PIB Saturday School registration open

Professionisti Italiani a Boston (PIB) will kick off its Italian Saturday school on Sept. 24, with a preliminary meeting for parents and students set for Sept. 17. Classes will be held at the Cambridge Community Center. Campaign to Support AP Language in New England Launched

The Italian Consulate in Boston and COMITES are seeking support in a joint effort to expand the offering of AP-level courses in Italian language and culture in high schools throughout New England. Click here to contribute to the campaign AP (or Advanced Placement) are courses that reward students and schools that offer more advanced programs in Italian and allow students to earn college credits while in high school. Italian High School Leadership Program Looking For Host Families.

An Italian high school leadership program is looking for local families to host Italian students for a special leadership program. A total of 14 students will be coming to Massachusetts Monday, July 13, and will be leaving Sunday, August 2. As of late, 1 girl and 2 boys need a place to stay. Host families will provide the students a room to sleep, 3 meals per day, and also are responsible for them on evenings and weekends. Italian Exchange Students Coming to Worcester In July

The WEP-USA will be hosting 11 Italian high school students in Worcester, MA in July. The students come from different cities in Italy. They are coming to Massachusetts for a three-week leadership program. In order for the students to gain a real glimpse into American life, they will be placed with a local host family. During the week, the students will be at a camp-like leadership program, which lasts roughly 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The program is hosted by a Massachusetts teacher. In recognition of outstanding academic achievement, Victoria Pace ’15 has been named the Stonehill College Foreign Languages Department’s 2015 Outstanding Student in Italian. French-American School of Rhode Island Eyeing Italian Track for 2015

The French-American School of Rhode Island (FASRI), has seen a year of great change with a new Head of — Jean Yves Carpanèse — and will continue to see change with three new programs that were approved by FASRI’s Board of Trustees on December 10. In 2015 FASRI will offer a Late Immersion Program for non-French speaking students in grades 1-5, an International Program for middle school students with no prior knowledge of the French language and an Italian Language Program for children entering pre-school through kindergarten. Revere High School Celebrates National Italian Honor Society Induction Ceremony

On May 1, Revere High School celebrated its 9th annual National Italian Honor Society Induction Ceremony. The evening consisted of a formal instatement into the society as new members recited an oath vowing to promote a deeper understanding of Italian language and culture. Students also performed the Tarantella, read various poems by Italian poets, and even sang a cover of Laura Pausini’s “Benvenuto”.
