Dante Alighieri Society Kicks Off Italian Heritage Month Celebrations

On Sunday, October 2, 2011, the Dante Alighieri Society of Massachusetts kicked off its Italian Heritage Month celebrations with an evening dedicated to the “Divine Poet” Dante Alighieri.

Featuring Professor J.G Hubbard, Chiara Durazzini, Marco Zanelli, Steven M. Dooner and Fioravante Bares, the evening included dramatic readings from Dante’s Inferno, as well as dramatizations of the works of Francesco Petrarca, Niccolò Macchiavelli, Ugo Foscolo and Giacomo Leopardi.

Musical performances, including Gioacchino Rossini’s La Danza, were presented by tenor Jeffrey Michael Hartman and pianist Julia Yunk.
