The Order Sons of Italy in America hosted The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts’ 101st State Convention from June 11 to June 14. This year, the annual convention took place at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Many attended the event, including the organization’s newly elected officers. Among the officials was new State President Antonio Sestito.
Two outstanding, committed members were awarded at the convention. Delia Bartucca and Mario Lucciola were awarded the Golden Lions Award, which is the highest honor a member can receive. The recipients were awarded because they demonstrated great commitment to OSIA and promoted Italian heritage at all levels.
There was a second award given at the event. Pamela Donnaruma was given the Presidential Award. The Presidential Award is given to an individual who the State President feels represents the Italian-American community in the best way possible. Donnaruma was awarded this honor for her workd as Editor of the Post-Gazette and Sons of Italy News.
