Roma Sale to DiBenedetto Gets Closer

Multiple reports seem to indicate that Red Sox co-owner Thomas DiBenedetto is set to buy Italian soccer team Roma for 200 million euro.

Yahoo! Sport reported the Sensi family, which currently holds a majority stake of Rome’s Serie A team, decided to keep talks open exclusively with DiBenedetto.

“It has been decided to proceed with a phase of exclusive discussion with the company DiBenedetto AS Roma LLC, which has made the most competitive offer that we have been presented,” the Sensi family declared, adding that discussions will last 30 days.

DiBenedetto is chairman to the Boston Red Sox and partner at NESV, which owns the Red Sox and acquired the British Premier League team Liverpool in 2010.
