Starting in April, Sounds of Italy Festival will be roaring back with a two-month-long concert series that will showcase some of the best Italian talent currently living and performing in the Boston area, as well as important guest artists from Italy.

Co-organized and hosted by I AM Books, the country’s first Italian-American bookstore, the concert series will feature 10 different performances throughout the months of April and May.

For two months, audiences coming to I AM Books at 189 North Street in Boston’s historical North End neighborhood will have a chance to listen to genres spacing from jazz to pop and also more traditional folk music.

“The richness of the incredible talents in this particular area is what inspired me to put together this program,” says Sounds of Italy Artistic Director Stefano Marchese, who hails from the region of Abruzzo and came in 2010 to Berklee College of Music to pursue a career as a musician.

The concert series is made possible also thanks to the support of the North End Music and Performing Arts Center and of the Italian Consulate General of Italy in Boston.
