A conversation with Dacia Maraini on Her New Novel and Homage
“La bambina e il sognatore” is the latest novel by Dacia Maraini who uses for the first time a male voice as the narrator of the story of Lucia, a child who disappears one day while she is going to school. “Writing Like Breathing” is a homage to Dacia Maraini, celebrating a wiring career that has spanned over half a century. It is a unique anthology comprising some of her most important works, the majority of which have never been translated into English. The collection emphasis Maraini’s long relationship with the unites States and Japan, and it is enriched by two unpublished short stories as well as by interviews and by talks given by the author at American universities.
The event is organized in collaboration with the University of Rhode Island, the Dante Alighieri Society and NISA – the New England Italian Students Association encompassing all the Italian students groups at BU, Harvard, MIT and Northeastern University.
