On Thursday, September 29, Donald Joseph Tarallo presented his photography exhibition of Roman letterforms.
This exhibition documents the rich variety of uppercase letters from Italy crafted from Roman antiquity through the Middle Ages. Some of the letterforms on display contain proportions that are still regarded as the most refined and beautiful in existence, while others reflect the rough gesture and individual fantasy of an untrained hand.
The photographs in this exhibition were taken in Italy during the summer of 2011 and during a research project funded by the generous support of a Marion and Jasper Whiting Fellowship.
