Salerno-native Nicola De Santis stepped in as new Consul General of Italy in Boston at the end of August, taking over the post from Giuseppe Pastorelli.
The 45-year-old De Santis holds a law degree from the Università di Salerno and started his diplomatic career back in 1999. Between 2002 and 2006, he was the Italian Consul in Detroit. In 2006 he moved to Caracas to work at the Italian embassy’s Commercial and Economic office. Three years later, he returned to Italy, working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Directorate for Resources and Innovation.
He is married and has three children.
