Festa della Repubblica celebrated at Filippo Ristorante

Boston’s Italian American community came together on May 31 to celebrate the 69th anniversary of Italy as a Republic. Rainy conditions shifted the annual celebrations from Christopher Columbus Park to Filippo Ristorante. Organized by the local COMITES chapter and the Federazione Associazioni Italiane e Italo-Americane New England, the Festa kicked off with the Centro Attività Scolastiche Italiane (Casit) awarding ten individual scholarships to as many students from the Boston area. Festa della Repubblica 2012 at Christopher Columbus Park

On Sunday, June 3, 2012, the Italian and Italian American community of the greater Boston area gathered on Boston’s Waterfront to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Italy as a Republic. Organized by Comites and the Federazione Associazioni Italiane & Italo-Americane New England, the event kicked off at 11:30 a.m. with the Italian and U.S. national anthems, followed by speeches by Maurizio Pasquale (President, Comites), Anna Quadri (President, Federazione) and Consul General of Italy Giuseppe Pastorelli.
