BU’s Alexa Cambi among six Italian American women selected for Italian national lacrosse team

Six Italian American women were recently called to take part in the Italian National Team in Women’s Lacrosse and will be competing in the European Championships this August – Alexa Cambi (Boston University), Kerrin Maurer (Duke University), Cate Soccodato (Our Lady of Mercy Academy High School/Marquette University Commit), Daniela Kelly (University of Virginia), Anna Maria Carabini (St. Mary’s College), and Brooke Kiley (University of Pennsylvania). The first part of the selection process occurred in Italy, where players from across the country traveled to Rome for tryouts. UMass Amherst’s Angela McMahon Named Head Coach of Italian National Lacrosse Team

The Italian Lacrosse Association has named women’s lacrosse head coach Angela McMahon as head coach of the first-ever Italian national team, which will compete in the 2017 FIL World Cup in Guildford, England. Justin Serpone, who is McMahon’s husband and the men’s soccer coach at Amherst College, will serve as co-head coach of the team. McMahon, who will continue to serve as head coach for the Minutewomen, is tasked with building the Italian national team over the next two years as it prepares for its first world championship event.
